About Gallup CliftonStrengths
Gallup’s CliftonStrengths Assessment has been completed by over 36 million individuals since being released in 1999. Grounded in
over five decades of research, CliftonStrengths utilizes positive psychology to maximize individual’s potential. CliftonStrengths is focused on identifying and developing individual’s natural talents and abilities to increase performance, relationships and quality of life.
A Strengths-Based Approach to Personal and Professional Growth
CliftonStrengths is an assessment developed by Gallup that helps individuals identify their natural patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. These patterns, referred to as talents, offer insight into how a person naturally operates and where they have the greatest potential for growth.
Rather than focusing on fixing weaknesses, this approach is centered on recognizing and developing what already comes naturally. When individuals understand and invest in their strengths, they are better equipped to grow, lead, and succeed in a way that feels authentic to them.
How the Assessment Works
The CliftonStrengths assessment is a timed, intuitive questionnaire designed to capture your natural instincts and tendencies. After completing the assessment, individuals receive a personalized report that highlights their most dominant talent themes out of a total of 34.
These themes represent different ways people approach communication, decision-making, relationships, and problem-solving. Together, they create a unique profile that helps individuals better understand how they naturally think and operate.
From Talents to Strengths
At the core of CliftonStrengths is a simple idea: natural talent is only the starting point.
When individuals intentionally develop their talents—through learning, practice, and application—those talents become strengths. In other words, strengths are not just what you’re good at, but what you consistently use and refine over time to perform at your highest level.
This perspective shifts personal and professional development away from trying to “fix” weaknesses and toward maximizing your potential.
Why Strengths Matter
Research from Gallup shows that individuals who actively use their strengths experience significant benefits in both their work and personal lives.
-
They are significantly more likely to feel engaged in what they do
-
They report higher overall well-being and life satisfaction
-
They demonstrate increased confidence, productivity, and goal achievement
In workplace settings, Strengths-Based Development has also been linked to higher performance, stronger team collaboration, and improved organizational outcomes.
Individuals who use their strengths regularly are six times more likely to feel engaged at work and three times more likely to report a high quality of life.
Beyond the Assessment
While the assessment itself provides valuable insight, real growth comes from understanding how to apply those insights in everyday life.
That’s where coaching becomes essential.
Strengths coaching helps individuals move beyond awareness and into action—equipping them with practical strategies to use their strengths intentionally in their goals, relationships, and leadership.
When you understand your strengths, you are able to:
-
Make aligned decisions
-
Communicate more effectively
-
Build stronger relationships
-
Lead with confidence
-
Thrive in both your personal and professional life
